The Sovereign Uniform

The Sovereign Uniform
When I lived in New York, some of my most effortlessly chic days looked like this: linen pants to the office, walk to the yoga studio, practice in what I was already wearing, jacket back on, dinner with friends.

One outfit. No compromise. Just me, feeling completely like myself.
That feeling became the design inspiration for Sovereign Studios.
I wanted to create a uniform for the woman who takes her dog for a walk in the morning, sits in meditation, drives to a coffee meeting about something she's building, hops on a flight with a shawl thrown over her shoulders, and has a glass of wine if she wants to at dinner — and feels equally herself at every single moment.

Not dressed up. Not dressed down. Just present.

That's what I mean by presence wear.

The fabrication was never a question. Natural fibers were non-negotiable — not as a trend, but because synthetics disconnect you from your body and the earth. We worked with Khadi — the handspun, handwoven fabric that Gandhi made into a symbol of resistance against colonial industry. Fabric with a philosophy already woven into it.

And manufacturing in India was the only choice. Meditation traveled west from India, a lineage carried for 2,500 years. Making these clothes there felt like returning something to its source. Working with artisans whose craft has been passed down for generations. Reconnecting with my own heritage in the process.

Every piece is designed to be a sensory experience. Something that reminds your nervous system to soften. A tool for embodiment as much as an item of clothing.

Elevated. Intentional. Sovereign.

And a reminder to treat the day like a waking meditation.

With love,
Anushka
